Cashflow chart

Status

Stable

The cashflow chart shows your cash position by day for the selected period — typically the last 30 days. It is the most-glanced chart in BOS for businesses with thin margins or seasonal patterns.

What you see

A line chart with one point per day. The Y axis is the closing cash balance for that day across all bank journals + cash-on-hand. The X axis is the date.

Two lines if the workspace currency differs from the journals' native currencies:

  • Base (your workspace currency, e.g. BGN)
  • Native total (sum of native values; less useful but exposed for multi-currency businesses)

By default only Base is shown; click the legend to toggle Native.

Period selector

The period dropdown at the top of the chart:

PeriodUse for
Last 7 daysThis week's pulse
Last 30 days (default)The standard monthly view
Last 90 daysQuarterly seasonality
Year-to-dateFull-year trend
Custom rangePick start / end dates

The chart's data points adjust granularity automatically — daily for short periods, weekly aggregates for year-to-date.

What's on the chart

LineDaily closing cash balance
Vertical markersDays with large transactions (top 10% by absolute amount)
Shaded regionPeriod in which the alert threshold was crossed
TooltipHover any day for the exact balance, top contributing transactions

The vertical markers help you spot the days when the bulk of cash moved — clicking a marker shows the underlying transactions.

Reading the chart

A healthy chart for most SMBs looks like:

  • A gradual rise across the month from customer payments
  • Sharp dips on payroll days and large supplier payment days
  • A floor that hovers above the alert threshold

A concerning pattern:

  • A persistent downward slope week-over-week
  • The line dipping into the alert region (shaded)
  • Erratic large dips with no corresponding rises

If you see the latter, ask the Finance agent:

What's driving the downward cashflow trend in the last 2 weeks?

The agent fetches the underlying transactions and explains.
