Looking for the product overview?

This page explains Pulse from the BOS user's perspective. For the canonical product overview (what Pulse is as a whole, editions, pricing context), read /pulse/ first.

What is PLANA Pulse

PLANA Pulse is the AI-first layer that sits above PLANA Business Cloud. It is the part of PLANA that watches what is happening in your business, raises alerts, and gives you a set of agents you can chat with to ask questions and have work done on your data.

Audience

Customers and tenant administrators trying to understand what they are buying with Pulse, and how it differs from the underlying ERP.

Three layers, one product

The product you actually pay for is the combination of three things:

  1. PLANA Business Cloud — your ERP. Accounting, Sales, CRM, Purchase, Inventory, Project, HR, and the connectors. This is where the records live: invoices, sale orders, stock moves, payroll. (User manual)

  2. PLANA Pulse — the AI layer above the ERP. It does four things:

    • Streams events from PLANA Business Cloud as they happen
    • Computes KPIs continuously — revenue MTD, cash position, gross margin, days sales outstanding, stock turnover
    • Raises alerts when something crosses a threshold you have set — a customer's overdue balance, a product about to run out, a deal stuck in pipeline for too long
    • Runs agents — AI assistants you can chat with, each with a specialised set of tools that read from and (with care) write to your PLANA Business Cloud tenant
  3. BOS — the screen you open to use Pulse. The dashboard, the chat panel, the alerts view, the execution log.

You can use PLANA Business Cloud without ever opening BOS — accountants often work in the classic ERP forms all day. But the AI layer (alerts, agents, automated workflows) is only accessible through BOS.

What can an agent actually do?

PLANA Pulse ships with four agents. Each one is given a small, specialised set of tools — functions it can call against your data. The agent decides which tool to use to answer your question; you see what it called and what it returned in the chat, and the same calls are recorded in the Execution log.

AgentSpecialises inSample question
FinanceAccounts, cash, balances, reconciliation"Why is cash lower than last week?"
WarehouseStock levels, reorder points, slow movers"Which products will run out this week?"
MarketingPipeline overview, lead scoring, campaigns"Which campaign brought the most leads?"
SalesPipeline value, deal velocity, top customers"Which deals are stuck longer than 30 days?"

An agent's answer is based on your live data — it reads from your PLANA Business Cloud tenant at the moment you ask. There is no pre-computed report; the agent fetches what it needs to answer the specific question.

How is this different from "AI in the ERP"?

Many ERPs are adding AI features inside the traditional forms — autosuggest on fields, summarise an invoice, predict the next number. Useful, but shallow: the AI sits inside one form and helps you fill it in.

PLANA Pulse takes the opposite approach. The AI is the front door, not a sidekick inside a form. You open BOS, you talk to an agent, the agent reaches into PLANA Business Cloud, fetches the relevant data, reasons over it, and gives you the answer or performs the action.

This matters because:

  • The questions you actually have ("how is the business doing?", "what is wrong with cashflow?", "where is the inventory tying up money?") cross multiple forms and multiple apps. A form-level AI cannot answer them.
  • An AI front door means you can act without learning where every screen lives in the ERP. People who would never enjoy navigating Odoo can use PLANA productively from day one.
  • The agent is auditable. Every tool call is logged with arguments and return value. You can prove to your accountant, or to a regulator, what the AI saw and did.

What Pulse does not do

PLANA Pulse is intentionally narrow about what AI is allowed to change:

  • It will not post journal entries on its own. Accountants do that.
  • It will not issue invoices or send emails to customers without explicit confirmation.
  • It will not delete records.
  • It runs in Shadow Mode by default — actions are simulated and logged for review until the workspace owner enables write actions per agent.

We treat the AI as a fast, knowledgeable colleague who can look things up and prepare drafts — not as an autopilot.

What is next on the Pulse roadmap

  • More agents — HR, Compliance, Project — each with their own tools
  • Automations — agents that run on a schedule, not only on demand
  • Neural Business Network — long-term semantic memory across all your records so agents can recall context from weeks or months back
  • Mobile — a native mobile companion (Ionic + Capacitor) that surfaces Pulse alerts and chat on the go

The current roadmap is summarised on the Changelog.
